Vintage Barlow Nantucket Basket Purse

A vintage Barlow Nantucket basket purse featuring an image plaque of the sailing ship Brigantine Governor Endicott affixed to the top. This vessel sailed out of Salem, Massachusetts in the 1800s. The ship sailed to many ports worldwide and there are a number of log entries from the captain and master available online. The quaint basket purse is woven in an oval shape with a bound wicker rim and pin and clasp closure. It has a bent wood handle affixed with white porcelain-like finials on the outside. The interior is in good shape with a deep sapphire blue and floral fabric lining.
