Antique Karpen King Armchair

Item Details

An antique Karpen king armchair. The Karpen furniture company was established in Chicago in 1880 and quickly became an industry leader in upholstered furniture. The framing of the armchair is made of solid maple, with ornate carvings along the sides and legs in the Imperial Revival style. The wheels are part of the original piece and still functional, making for easier movement. The chairs are upholstered in a mauve fabric lined with lighter embroidery ribbon.

Condition

Fabric and ribbon frayed in places, bottom fabric falling. Wheels slightly rusted, wood slightly scratched with use. Block on left side separating.
