Vintage Map of The World in 1628

A mounted vintage map of the world in a 1628 version. This mount is made of wood and the center map is hand-painted brass. A brass strip along the top states ‘A New and Accurate Mappe of the World, drawne according to the latest discoveries 1628.’ Gold tone images around the wooden border depict at the top from left to right the four elements fire, ayre, water, and earth. On the wood panel features various explorers including Sir Francis Drake, Ferdinande Magellan, Thomas Cavendish and Oliverus Vander Noort. The back is stamped ‘Copyright 1964 Masketeers Inc.’ and also has two iron ring hangers on the back for displaying this unique piece.
