Antique Dresden Porcelain Figurine of Two 18th Century Ladies
Item Details
A large antique Dresden porcelain figurine of two 18th century French ladies of the court. Elaborately dressed in gowns trimmed in bright gold, this hand-painted piece of Dresden art is skillfully crafted. The ladies are in a garden setting. One is carrying a basket of delicate flowers including roses and trumpet flowers. They are walking a stone garden path among more hand-painted and delicate flowers. The base is trimmed in gold in a scroll design with 5-pointed stars. The crown with a cross over entwined ‘RK’ and the word ‘Dresden’ are painted in blue on the underside. This mark dates the piece between 1869-1891, and assigns the artisan group as belonging to Karl Richard Klemm. Klemm or other members of his studio were responsible for the painstaking hand painting on these figurines.
