USS Philadelphia Model Ship by John Canah
Item Details
A hand-crafted wooden replica of the ship USS Philadelphia with metal components. This detailed replica was made by artisan John Canah and includes a letter from the artist providing biographical information. The letter also includes hand-written details about the ship. Also included are three images of the ship in her glory. The ship is set on a royal blue lined wooden base with clear acrylic top. Canah went to work for Charles K. Van Ryper (1891-1964) in June of 1934 and worked under his tutelage for 11-1/2 years. See item 15CIN489-361 for a ship that was designed by Van Ryper.
