Ruth Plumly Thompson "Wizard of Oz" Books I

Item Details

A collection of seven Wizard of Oz books by Ruth Plumly Thompson. Thompson resumed writing stories of Oz after original author L. Frank Baum passed away in 1919. John R. Neill continued his illustrations for Thompson’s stories as he did for Baum. These books are all early editions printed between 1922 and 1935 due to the presence of the stunning color plates within the stories. Titles included are Kabumpo in Oz, The Cowardly Lion of Oz, Grampa in Oz, The Lost King of Oz, The Hungry Tiger of Oz, The Gnome King of Oz, and The Giant Horse of Oz. The Cowardly Lion of Oz features the non-standard ampersand for Reilly and Lee publishing insignia on the spine, which indicates first edition for this title.

A set of earlier books of the Wizard of Oz series can be viewed in the listing 15CIN443-382, -380, and -324.
