An original oil painting on board by Cincinnati-born artist Patrick Shiels (1959) titled, Via Giulia, Rome, 1999. The image depicts a beautiful view down the said cobblestone Italian street, draped in cascading tendrils of greenery, painted with convincing realism. Much of the image is painted in shadow, giving a chiaroscuro effect as light radiates from the sky and bits of illuminated areas. Artist signature and date signed in paint to lower right corner. Mounted inside a beveled wood frame with gilt detailing on interior and exterior edges. Artist name, date, dimensions, and media are marked to the verso, as well as multiple America West Frames stamps.
Patrick Shiels’ paintings are found in some of the most prestigious private collections and galleries in the world, from New York to London, including selection for juried competition with the prestigious Royal Academy of Art in London.

- craquelure throughout painting surface. Accretion on painting surface, more concentrated in corners. Notable scratches down along center line and surrounding areas. Light wear to finish of frame.
