Offset Lithograph of Michael Finnell's "Forever Churchill"
Item Details
An offset lithograph reproduction of a painting by Kentucky horse artist Micahel DuVall Finnell (1947-1999), titled Forever Churchill – 100th Anniversary of the Twin Spires. The image depicts heavy snowfall over Churchill Downs, the historic horse-racing track that hosts the Kentucky Derby. The Twin Spires are two recognizable hexagonal towers that rise from the structure and have become a symbol of the history of horse-racing. In this image, ghostly outlines of jockeys on horses circle the abandoned track, and a soft yellow glow comes from behind the towers’ windows. There is an in plate signature in blue in the lower left corner. A small gold plaque sits in the bottom margin of the piece. The print is double-matted in linen and gilt, and is presented in a gilt frame.
