This specific photo recalls a moment in history where Willie Stargell, on August 5th, 1969, became the first baseball player to hit a home-run out of Dodgers Stadium, against Dodgers Pitcher Alan Foster, and helped secure defeat over the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-3.
Willie Stargell (March 6, 1940-April 9, 2001), an American Professional Baseball Player whose entire 21 year MLB career, was spent as the Left Fielder and First Baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League from 1962-1982. Willie Stargell helped catapult his team to victory with 6 Division Titles, 2 Pennant Titles, and 2 World Series Titles in 1971 and 1979, and was later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988.
