Japanese Kamidana Household Shinto Shrine

An antique Japanese Kamidana household Shinto shrine. Made of elm and cypress, the shrine is in the form of a screened pagoda. Shrine originally used to worship a Kami god, or local household diety. ‘Ofuda’ small charms were purchased and placed on the shrine. Shrine has several screened window openings, stairs and a sloping roof. Carved detailing to the top of the stairs and on some windows.

Condition

Some areas are loose. Consistent with age and use.
