Limited Edition Christoforos Asimis "Santorini" Print
Item Details
A limited edition 1998 giclee print on paper with silk-screened details by listed Greek artist Christoforos Asimis (1945-), titled Santorini. This vast landscape depicts the well-recognized white buildings of the Greek coastal city of Santorini. Large rock cliffs rise behind the city, contrasting it’s soft shapes and forms. Most of the print is giclee, but the white detailing on the buildings is silk-screened by hand. The print is signed and numbered 158/200 in pencil in the lower margin. It is matted in white, and presented behind glass in a simple gilt frame. A wire is attached to the verso for hanging. A ‘certificate’ attached to the verso has the title, issue number, and dated written in ink, and states that the piece is a ‘hand-made silk-screen print,’ though that statement is not entirely accurate.
Asimis’ family is well-known for a variety of artistic accomplishments, and together run the ‘AK Galleries,’ a well-respected space in Santorini. The gallery’s website can be found at the link below.
