A signed, original nautical oil on canvas painting by JJ Enwright. The painting depicts a harbor scene at dusk with a small sailing boat anchored at a pier; to the opposite side are two more anchored vessels and in the distance are several ships anchored in a bay. JJ Enwright is the pseudonym for Hjalmar ‘Cappy’ Amundsen (American, 1911 – 2001), whose birth name was Caspar Hjalmar Emerson III. Cappy was the great nephew of South Pole explorer Roald Amundsen. Emerson legally changed his name in 1946 to honor his great uncle. Enwright is known for his nautical paintings depicting whaling hunts, harbor and dock scenes, ships, seascapes and landscapes. This painting is framed and ready to hang.
Condition
Some cracks in frame, cracking to paint. There is duct tape and damage to the back of the frame.
