Gino Hollander 1924-2015 was a self-taught American painter who developed a unique ‘figurative abstract expressionist’ style. He started painting in 1960, during the abstract expressionism movement in New York City and was one of the first to explore the use of acrylic paint. From 1960-1962, he had a studio and the first Hollander Gallery on Bleecker Street, in Greenwich Village. Many of his paintings sold during this period to famous collectors, such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Steve McQueen, Norman Rockwell, and Ralph Lauren. Others who have shown his work include galleries on Madison Avenue and West Broadway in New York City, and in Aspen, London, Toronto, Switzerland and Santa Fe, N.M.
