Antique Civil War Uniform Buttons
Item Details
A collection of Civil War era uniform buttons circa 1870. There are two different buttons. There is the US Eagle with an ‘I’ for infantry worn by Union officers and the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) buttons worn by Union veterans. There are 5 large Eagle buttons and 14 smaller buttons. There are 7 large and 13 small GAR buttons. The buttons appear to be brass with loops on the back for sewing. Most of the buttons have their manufacturer’s name on the backs. There is a wide variety of makers such as John Shillito of Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas N. Dale & Co of New York, and more.

The large buttons are approximately 7/8" wide x 5/8" thick.
The small buttons are approximately 1/2" wide x 1/2" thick.
