An original 1918 hand-tinted aquatint etching on paper by English artist Frederick Marriott (1860-1941), titled A Brudges Gateway. This stunning print depicts an entrance to a Normandy castle at night. Figures washing clothes in the castle’s moat are cast in darkness, and a bright yellow light illuminates the center of the scene. This moody print is titled in the lower left corner and signed in the lower right corner, both in pencil. The print’s copyright information is printed in the upper and lower margins. The print is presented behind glass in a striped wooden frame, and a wire is attached to the verso for hanging. More information about the artist can be found at the link below.

-paper is yellowed, consistent with age. White markings on upper left corner of paper margin. Light wear to edges of frame.
