A framed offset lithograph print after Chinese artist Hui Chi Mau’s (born 1922) original watercolor painting of sunflowers growing along a bamboo lattice while a dragonfly flies by. Artist chopmark printed in plate to the lower right. Printed on textured paper behind silk double-matting, under glass, in a wood frame with gold-toned finish and bamboo likeness. The remains of a gallery tag with artist name is attached to the verso.
Hui Chi Mau immigrated from Hong Kong to New York City and was renowned for painting Horses in his Chinese black brush style. He also produced some remarkable florals paintings. Hui Chi Mau comes from a long line of ‘gentleman-scholars,’ who since the days of the Sung Dynasty have traditionally been associated with calligraphy, poetry and painting. As a young man, he studied classic Chinese brush painting at the National Art Academy, Hangchow, China. He was a protege of Chi Pai-shih.

- outer silk mat is stained and damaged throughout. Finish of frame is scratched and bruised along edges.
