Bronze Native American Shaman Sculpture by Bill Worrell
Item Details
An original bronze Native American shaman sculpture by Bill Worrel. Titled Masked, Caped Shaman in Full Power with Magic Stick, Ancestral Spirit and Golden Ring of Forever. This piece features an otherworldly figure with a deer skull mask, a deer skin scarf, four outstretched arms, and a long torso. The upper arms hold ritual items, such as a staff, a golden ring, and a small person with back arched and arms reaching towards the sky. Each of these elements have symbolic meaning; the deer skull mask and skin scarf represent the shaman’s connection to nature; the magic staff represents the “staff of life”; the golden ring represents the unending cycle of life and death; and the small man represents ancestral knowledge. The backside of the piece is stamped “L 13”. Included paperwork indicates that this is number thirteen of a limited fifty piece run. It was one of several pieces originally shown in the Frank Howell Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The shaman’s design is based on ancient rock art found in caves of the Southwestern United States.
