Antique Seth Thomas "Adamantine" Mantel Clock
Item Details
An elegant Seth Thomas late 19th century antique mantel clock, the ‘Adamantine’, a model which was patented in 1880. It has a circular face with Roman numerals behind a hinged glass door, and a wood case with a black celluloid veneer with incised scrollwork designs. It has a faux-marble veneer to the top and two faux-marble half-columns flanking the clock face, and stands on metal feet with scrolled designs. The original directions are affixed to the back. When the hands are manually moved it was able to chime, however full testing was not possible at the time of cataloging. The winding key and pendulum are included. Condition
- chip to the black veneer at the front bottom edge, plus a few other small nicks and scratches, consistent with age.
