An original pastoral landscape scene executed in chalk pastel by well-listed American artist Helen Mary Knowlton (1832 – 1918). The illustration depicts a single female figure at the lower left of composition, who walks an illuminated dirt path framed by lush foliage. The figure wears a red hat in contrast with her green surroundings, and carries a bouquet of yellow flowers. The illustration is signed ‘H.M.K.’ to the lower right corner. The illustration is protected behind glass in a gilt wooden frame, with a name plate to the lower center. For addition information, please see the link to the right of this page.
Condition
The illustration is in good condition, consistent with age. The frame is in fair condition, with some abrasions to the gilt surface.
