A book of colored plates showing mural paintings contained in the Library of Congress, published by Foster & Reynolds in 1902. The purpose of the book, according to its brief preface, is ‘to reproduce the Library Mural Paintings in the colors of the originals, with the fidelity made possible by the most perfect color process of the day, and with the softness and delicacy of the actual paintings.’ Subjects of the murals here reproduced include ‘The Evolution of the Book,’ ‘Poetry,’ ‘The Greek Heroes,’ ‘The Occupations of the Day,’ ‘Muses,’ ‘The Arts and Sciences,’ and ‘The Muses.’

Condition

-Some wear is visible to the cover corners, and to head and tail of the spine.
