British Bobby Metropolitan Police Hat

A British Bobby Metropolitan Police official hat, known as a ‘custodian helmet’. Made by Compton Webb Limited of Newport Gwent, Great Britain, this style of hat was phased out in 2002. Made of black felt, banded around the brim in an embossed metal band, silver tone helmet plate with ‘Metropolitan Police’ and ‘ER’ under the symbol of the crown, and a poppy on the crest of the cap. The cap is sized 7 1/4, has a leather band inside, a buckling chin strap and one that snaps.

Condition

Some staining on the leather band inside the hat.
