An 18th century portrait painting of a Dutch or Flemish magistrate executed in oils on stretched canvas. The portrait, reminiscent of works by Van Dyke, depicts the Northern European gentleman adorned with an Elizabethan collar and philosophers chain. A signature is not visible. Condition

Heavy discoloration and craquelure throughout. The painting has been removed from it’s original stretcher and relined. Stretcher marks are present.
