A lithograph of the watercolor painting titled La Dance from The Divine Comedy by surrealist artist Salvador Dali (1904-1989). Dali was commissioned by the Italian government to create a series of works to illustrate The Divine Comedy by Dante to be published by La Libreria dello Stato in Rome. The 101 watercolor illustrations created by Dali were not widely accepted in Italy due to the artist being Spanish, he strove to completion. Dali with the backing of Les Heures Claires had the engraver Raymond Jacquet create wood blocks of all the paintings in this series. This print of depicts four women dancing in fluid strokes in hues of blue, red, and yellow. The work is signed in plate to the upper center and there is an illegible embossed stamp to the lower left. It is presented behind glass in a gilt frame with canvas matting; ready to hang.
