A limited edition mid century lithograph on paper by Panamanian/American artist Keith Llewellyn De Carlo (1925-1981). De Carlo was born in Panama and joined the United Sates Marine Corps., where he fought in World War II. After the war he became an American citizen, and received his initial art training at The Art Student’s League in New York. He then went on to further study at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, France. After his Paris studies he went to Spain where he attended the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Barcelona. After finishing his studies, he became a muralist, creating murals in the United Sates, France, Spain, and Holland. He later worked as a book illustrator and commercial artist from his home base in Paris. This fun lithograph has great mid century graphics depicting a cat standing next to a potted plant. A full moon is seen over the plant. An embossed bear can be seen inside the moon. Hand signed by the artist to the right hand corner, and numbered 358/375. From a limited edition of 375 prints and 35 artist’s proofs. Printed in France and distributed in the U.S. by Collector’s Guild . #169.
