Porcelier Electric Coffee Percolator Urn Set
Item Details
A porcelain electric coffee urn set made by Porcelier Company in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. This unique set includes a porcelain hot beverage urn with a matching cream and sugar set. The urn is substantial, with a clear glass percolator finial, fitted, tabbed lid, and long, tapering urn ending in a wide pedestal foot. The front of the urn has a floral applied decal with a black, semi-heart-shaped painted border and a thin, elegant handle to each side. In the urn is the aluminum percolator gear: basket, with lid on a tall stem, fitted to the base and a Champion brand electrical plug. A cord, included, plugs into the base of the exterior of the pot and water is warmed for percolating coffee. The creamer and sugar have the same elongated, elegant and fluted design as the urn, with the same floral motif and border to the front. The Porcelier Manufacturing Co. operated in East Liverpool, Ohio and South Greenberg, Pennsylvania from the 1920s through 1950s, and specialized in porcelain light fixtures and small electrical appliances. The base plate of the urn has operating instructions, including the warning to never submerge the urn in water. A vintage and fun entertaining set for the buffet.
Condition
This set is in good condition, but the handle of the creamer has broken and been repaired. Untested, but the cord and plug appear to be in fine shape.
