A fine American Victorian mahogany library table with poplar secondary wood, having a square top with a deep relief-carved border in the Renaissance style, over a projecting carved apron frame with laurel leaf border, above a massive base, featuring four carved winged griffin supports, surrounding a center turned pedestal with gadrooned carving, resting on an X-form beam base with carved border detail, on bun feet. Circa 1880-1900. Likely from the workshop of R. J. Horner, New York City.
