Collection of Pewter and Glass Tableware
Item Details
A collection of pewter and glass tableware includes pewter toothpick holders shaped as in an Alpine horn, with the base of the horn set on two splayed feet, and having a decorative design to the rim and at the point where the feet meet the body. Included is a vintage glass jar with stepped design to the base; an English ‘Old Hall’ stainless steel toast holder, marked ‘Old Hall, England’ to the base; a pewter milk jug with a bulbous shape and an impressed design around the top and a scrollwork handle, marked, ‘Genuine Pewter’ to the base. The collection includes a pewter compote with a fluted, ruffled edge on a pedestal stem with an etched, detailed dolphin holding the basin, which is marked ‘Pewter by Rice 638.’ The basin of the compote is angled slightly.
Condition
- the jug and compote show significant tarnish which may be brightened with cleaning. Wear on the items is consistent with use and age.
