A folk art carved apple sculpture by Isadore ‘Shep’ Shapiro (American, c.1914-1993). This sculpture depicts an iconic head with a top hat and pipe mounted atop an organic wood base. The sculpture is signed to the bottom. Shep Shapiro of Highland Park, Illinois specialized in apple carvings. He developed the epoxy resin coating to preserve his apple sculptures and marketed them nationally.
