A collection of West Point cadet memorabilia from 1936. Since the Revolutionary War period, West Point, New York has had strategic military importance. The military academy was established there in 1802. This historic collection belonged to one young man who attended the academy in the late 1930s. Included here: six pairs of white dress gloves with snap closures, one extra glove missing a mate; three starched uniform collars, one dress shirt and one pair of white dress pants; one khaki belt; one West Point pennant flag and one banner flag; one Absence Card; a protractor and slide rule, ink pad and hone stone; pair of tweed wool sporting pants and matching ball cap, pair of athletic boots, possibly size 10; two large horse blankets, one navy blue and one yellow with some blanket pins; six textbooks on Naval Reserve studies and one book from 1979 on West Point graduates.
Condition
Fair to Good. The clothing is well made and in good shape, but has stains and mold issues. All of the gloves are stained and some of the metal snaps show corrosion. No odor noted. The books show wear consistent with age and use.
