A collection of California style vintage ceramic ashtrays. The collection includes four vintage ceramic ashtrays with unique glazing patterns. Included is a hexagonal ceramic ashtray in a bright flame-red-orange with yellow and black glazing design to the interior, and a repeating hexagonal basin in the center with grooves for cigars/cigarettes, marked ‘Cal. Orig. / 124 / U.S.A. to the base.’ A rounded square ceramic ashtray in a deep chocolate brown with celadon glazing design and grooves to each corner. It is marked ‘3455 USA’ to the base, and interestingly, the stilt marks are evident on the base, where the piece was glazed all over and placed on a stilt in the firing kiln to keep the glaze from adhering to the kiln shelf. A double teardrop ceramic ashtray in a rich mushroom brown with celadon glazing pattern to each teardrop. it is marked ‘Made in America’ to the base. An asymmetrical abstractly-shaped ceramic ashtray with grooves to each side and a lovely black, yellow, chartreuse and red glaze pattern to the interior. The exterior is textured black and felt protectors have been applied; it is not marked.
