Mid-Century Leaping Doe Television Lamp

Item Details

A fantastic mid-century leaping doe planter/television lamp. Ceramic with a green high gloss finish. Lamp features a doe leaping gracefully, with foliate decoration behind. The light is mounting in back, behind two open areas for plants. Circa the 1950s. Television lamps became popular in the 1950s because audiences at the time were used to watching movies in dark theaters and the early televisions had a low luminosity. Television lamps were believed to help reduce any eye strain caused by these factors and thus became seen as a household necessity. Lamp is unmarked. Tested and in working condition.
