A fantastic mid-century stalking panther television lamp. Ceramic with a green high gloss finish. Lamp features a panther perched atop a knoll with foliate decoration below. Circa the 1950s. Television lamps became popular in the 1950s because audiences at the time were used to watching movies in dark theaters; the early televisions had a low luminosity. Television lamps were believed to help reduce any eye strain caused by these factors and thus became seen as a household necessity. Lamp is unmarked. Tested and in working condition.
