Erte "Daydreams" Bronze Sculpture

A ‘Glamour in Bronze’ series Art Deco bronze sculpture by the father of the Art Deco movement, the immortal Erte (Romain de Tirtoff, Russia & France, 1892-1990). Titled ‘Daydreams’ with 23 Carat yellow gold leaf, red and gold patinas, gold link chain and polished embellishments. This magnificent bronze is of a sun kissed and glamorous raven haired beauty, relaxed, smoking a golden opium pipe while exposing her torso adorned with gold multi link chains which fall ever so perfectly down the small of her back, then connect to a golden blanket draped over her legs, as she rests on a bed table with golden supports, figural robed men wearing Chinese masks. This sculpture is one of a limited edition. The clay and then plaster model, the mold, the initial casting, and the patination were created under the supervision of the artist and were approved by him. The artist’s signature was signed in wax, from which a stamp was made and approved by the artist. Each casting is stamped with the artist’s signature and numbered. This edition is not a restrike or a recasting. There are no authorized, unsigned or unnumbered exemplars of this edition. The models and molds are destroyed after the casting of the full edition as described herein. The artist approved the casting of the full edition as described herein. This sculpture was cast in the Joel Meisner & Co. Foundry in the year 1989. Included is a certificate of authenticity with gallery pamphlet. Edition Breakdown is as follows: Total Edition size is 462, Main Series and Serially Numbered 1/375 through 375/375, Deluxe Edition numbered I/L through L/L, Artist’s Proofs numbered AP1/37 through AP37/ 37. Originally purchased from The Dyansen Galleries in New York. Also includes a panel of beveled mirrored glass on which it rests.
Condition
The mirror has a chip on one edge, however.
