Robert Mitchell Queen Anne Style Oak Desk

Item Details

A Robert Mitchell Queen Anne-style solid oak desk has excellent graining. It has a drop front with a beveled edge to the drop board on the top. A single drawer with dovetailed joints to the front and slot joints to the back and two bail pulls with cast back plates. The apron below the drawer has basket weave carving. The interior has six letter dividers and an bowed shelf. The front legs are squared cabriole while the back ones are squared and tapered. The hardware is brass and retains its own key. The bottom of the drawer has a paper sticker that reads ‘From The Robert Mitchell Furniture Co. Cincinnati.’ The Robert Mitchell Furniture Company was in business from 1881 until the 1930’s.

Condition

The desk has some scratches, wear, nicks, writing to the bottom of the drawer, and a couple of splatters of paint. The interior has a sizeable area where the finish appears to have had something spilled on it. The finish is compromised.
