Hand Carved Heraldic Shield
Item Details
A hand carved heraldic shield. This shield was carved circa 1950’s and made out of pine. Features a knight’s helmet at the top and in the shield a fleur-de-lis (emblem of France), a heraldic tower (defense and grandeur), and two ’X’s, which symbolize protection. The detailed feathers at the top of the knight’s helmet have broken off. The raised reliefs in the shield have remnants of gold tinting. Around the shield are decorative floral carvings.
