An original and well-executed oil painting on wood panel of a simple kitchen scene. Painted in an impressionistic style depicting a wide perspective of a woman preparing food with natural light illuminating her and the work of her hands. A corked jug of wine and half of a grapefruit lay upon the wooden table where the woman stands working. The panel is presented in a beveled wooden frame finished in black with gilt trim to both interior and exterior edges. The painting is signed in paint by the artist to the lower left-hand side appearing to read, ‘Renick’. The frame is marked in pencil to the verso reading, ‘Fienstien’.
