An original Louise Johnson (1918-2012) wildlife study watercolor painting. Painted in a realistic style, painting is layered with rich washes and a believable sense of depth. It features a detailed wren bird and monarch butterfly perched in low lying branches above the forest floor. It is vibrantly lit in the center with deeper shadows in the outer edges. Signed to the bottom left corner. The image is matted under gallery glass in a gilt wood frame. Johnson is a noted Brown County, Indiana painter. There is an included artist biography. Hanging hardware present to verso.
Condition
Painting is very nice with no noted damage. The frame has minor wear on the gilding.
