Item Details

A rare 1880s Reiss cast iron toy train. The tender locomotive has a cow catcher on the front and open spoke wheels. The coal car with open spoke wheels is painted red. The original engineer is included. It is marked on the base ‘Pat. May 25 1880, REISS D March-14-82.’

Condition

- for age. Wear is consistent given age of item. There is heavy rusting of the locomotive, and paint loss on the coal car. Paint loss evident on the engineer figure.
