Three Civil War Era Carte de Visites

A trio of Civil War era cartes de visited, including two Union soldiers and one civilian, all unnamed. The carte de visite’s are protected in rigid toploader card holders. The carte de visite photograph proved to be a very popular item during and immediately following the Civil War. Soldiers, friends and family members would have a means of inexpensively obtaining photographs and sending them to loved ones in small envelopes. Collecting these of persons with notoriety became immensely popular.

- fair, fold line to civilian, trimmed corners to officer, some corner and edge wear, foxing.
