A whimsical artist proof by artist, George Davis( Nantucket and Key West 1939-) , is titled, ’Charlie’s Market’. The piece is framed in a metallic red frame which works with the colorful red, white, grey and blue seagull dressed as a chef atop a’ Joy of Cooking’ cookbook. The artist has printed the following along the base of the image and signed the piece in the lower right quadrant, ’ Cooking was her thing, Shopping was her bag.’ .
The artist owned the Morning Glory Cafe on Old South Wharf, Nantucket which was decorated with his trompe l’oeil images. His work was also on exhibit at the Main Street Gallery on Nantucket. He lives in Key West Florida.
