Great collection of mid century American ceramics. The Franciscan Desert Rose pattern was manufactured from 1941 – 1984 and epitomizes the love of color and design so important to the ceramicists of the time.
According to ceramics historians, the Franciscan Desert Rose pattern is one of the most popular American dinnerware patterns ever. Franciscan designed this inimitable pattern in 1941 along with its famous Apple pattern. Franciscan Desert Rose featured raised relief tiles and hand-painted designs. These designs reflected a true Southwestern flair.Other contemporaneous Franciscan designs received critical adulation as well. The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art hosted an extensive exhibition featuring the design work of Frederic and Mary Grant, the Franciscan designers who helped to popularize the Desert Rose line. This collection will a touch of midcentury ceramics flare to your dining experience. Collection includes one divided relish dish, nine dinner plates, 10 salad plates, three soup bowls, twelve saucers, six fruit bowls, eight salad bowls. A part of this lot are two Royal Worcester mugs and three Epoch white and yellow striped mugs.
