Antique Ansonia "Parisian" Parlor Clock
Item Details
An antique Ansonia ‘Parisian’ parlor clock, circa 1878. Made in New York, this striking, chiming clock has a finished walnut body with turned finials and the carved face of a woman in relief above the clock face. The door is stamped with an elaborate, brass-toned gate and urn design. The back of the clock has a label reading ‘Prize Medal Awarded, Paris Exposition 1878 Parisian Strike Ansonia Clock Company, New York, U.S.A.’. The movement is stamped with the company name and ‘Patented May 27, 1877’. Two keys are included, as is the pendulum.
Condition
The movement of the clock winds properly, ticks, and chimes the wrong hour. The pendulum oscillates. The wood finish is noticeably marked and faded in some spots, consistent with age and use.
