1883 Civil War Certificate of Service

An 1883 Civil War Certificate of Service, hand colored and engraved by The Pettibone Brothers Mfg. Company of Cincinnati, ‘Published Expressly For The Army And Navy Record Co. The certificate references Corporal John Kauffman of Co. A, 101st Regt., Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was ’Presented by Conradd Kauffman and dedicated to the memory of their children, William, Marcella, and George, June 5th, 1904’. The piece is under glass in a period oak frame with applied composite carvings. See link for Kaufmann’s service history.

Condition

- some water marks along the border, areas of decorative applique loss on the frame as well and some scratches and nicks.
