A signed, limited edition etching by Indiana artist Evelynne Mess (1903 – 2003). Etching depicts a tree growing along the edge of a wide open bay dotted with sailboats in the distance. Print is numbered 53 out of 100 and is titled In the Bay. Signed by the artist to the lower right. Displayed in a gold tone wooden frame with cream mat. Mess studied art under Frederick Polley at Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis, in addition to attending Saturday classes at the John Herron Institute of Art. Mess later married Indiana artist George Jo Mess in 1925. While an accomplished painter and illustrator, Evelynne Mess is most well known for her printmaking, and was the founder of the Indiana Society of Printmakers.
