A 76-piece set of Johnson Bros ‘Coaching Scenes’ ironstone china, made in England. Each of these blue and white china dishes has spiraled fluting and is decorated with horse, hound, and carriage scenes. Included in the set: seventeen dessert plates, fourteen saucers, six fruit bowls, seven bowls, ten teacups, nine salad plates, ten dinner plates, two serving bowls, and one oval platter. The plates are marked ‘Coaching Scenes Made in England by Johnson Bros Ironstone Hunting Country’. The bowls are marked ‘Coaching Scenes Made in England by Johnson Bros – A Genuine Hand Engraving – Detergent and Acid Resisting Colour Ironstone Gate Keeper’. The teacups are impressed ‘Made in England’. Also included is a serving bowl, made in Japan, ‘English Village’ pattern.
Condition
A couple pieces have chipped rims, but are in otherwise good condition.
