An antique McKenney & Hall hand tined lithograph titled, Ma Has Kah, Chief of the Ioways, published by F.G. Greenough, entered according to the act of Congress in the year 1836. Page 177 from History of the Indian tribes of North America, unframed, awaiting your choice of presentation. The original Mahaskah text, written by James Hall, is included with this print.
History of the Indian Tribes of North America is a collection of 125 images of lithographic and chromolithographic plates. Thomas Loraine McKenney (1785 – 1859) served as Commissioner of Indian Affairs from 1824 to 1830, and had portraits of Native American Chiefs commissioned for his Gallery in the War Department. He was intent on publishing and recording the history of vanishing North American Indians. James Hall (1793 – 1868) provided text for Native History of the Indian Tribes of North America, published in three volumes between 1838 and 1844.

- to good. Overall discoloration, including stains from original text. Binding residue to the right-hand side.
