Gold Centenario 37.5 Gram Mexican Peso Coin

A gold Centenario coin minted in Mexico. Mexican Peso is marked with dates 1821 – 1943. Piece is much the same as a 50 pesos coin but in 1943 it was printed without the value. Instead ‘37.5 Gr. Oro Puro’ is printed on both the left and right of the female figure. The obverse is printed with an image of Nike, the Greek winged Goddess of Victory. Below her, superimposed over a mountain range, is 1821, Mexico’s date of independence from Spain, and the coin’s Mint date, 1943. The reverse image shows a triumphant eagle with a rattlesnake in his beak. Text above reads, ‘Estados Unidos Mexicanos’. Purity: 900/1000. Diameter: 37 mm. The printed weight is 37.5 grams, but this coin actually weighs 41.8 grams. Please see link for more on this coin.
