Antique Dough Box

An antique dough box, which was used to mix and knead dough. The dough was then allowed to rise in the box with the lid on. The box also served as a work table when needed. This box is mounted on a splayed Pennsylvania style base. The construction features wooden pegs, square head nails, and hand cut through dovetail joinery at the sides. This primitive dough box has a wonderful patina and is a great utilitarian piece.
