1950s "Lancaster County" Maple China Hutch by Willett Furniture

A solid maple ‘Lancaster County’ china hutch from the 1950s by Willett Furniture of Louisville, Kentucky. This two-piece china hutch features an upper case with three drawers that have metal pulls, two open shelves, a paneled back, and scalloped molding attached to the cornice. The lower case has two top drawers and one large center drawer that is perfect for storing linens. The drawers feature willow brasses with bail handles. Two shelves are concealed behind the chamfered panel doors that are attached with ‘H’ style hinges. The case sits on bracket feet. Willett Furniture was in business from 1934 until 1962, and at one time was the largest manufacturer of cherry and maple furniture in the U.S. Willett was well-known for using quality hardwoods, and for their wax based finishes. Each piece was sanded seven times and given five layers of a hand rubbed finish. Recent years have seen Willett Furniture being sought after by collectors, and prices have continued to rise.
