Mahogany Hall Tree
Item Details
A handsome mahogany hall tree with a mirror. It features an openwork design of an equilateral cross inside a circle at the top, flanked by two finials, above a rectangular pane of frosted glass with a green diamond at the center with geometric designs. This in turn is set above a vertical rectangular mirror with bevelled edges, with a carved panel with floral and foliate designs below. Below this is the top surface of the lower cabinet. The lower part of the piece includes a drawer with dovetailed joints, and a cabinet space with a door carved with curling leaf designs. The piece stands on four short, lathe-turned legs. Note that unlike most hall trees, this piece does not have any hooks or pegs for coats and hats.
